UGC Examples

UGC examples: the creator video formats that consistently convert.

The ten formats we return to most often for ecommerce brands — what each one looks like, why it works, and the kind of product it suits.

Problem–solution

Name the frustration in the first two seconds, then show the product solving it. The most reliable format across almost every category.

Unboxing and first impressions

Packaging, weight, texture and the honest first reaction — high watch time and strong proof for newer brands.

Before and after

Genuine change over a usage window. Powerful in beauty, home and cleaning, provided the result is real.

Most brands don't have a creative problem so much as a format problem. They keep remaking the same polished product video and wonder why performance flattens. The fix is usually to run the same product through several proven formats and let the ad account choose.

Beyond problem-solution, unboxing and before-and-after, the formats we lean on most are: the honest review after real usage, the try-on or fit check, the taste test or first sip, the 'things I wish I knew' listicle, the routine or day-in-the-life placement, the comparison against what the buyer currently uses, and the direct-to-camera recommendation that reads like advice from a friend.

Each of those changes the job the first three seconds are doing. A listicle hooks with curiosity, a comparison hooks with tension, a review hooks with scepticism resolved. Testing across formats tells you which psychological entry point your buyer responds to — which is far more useful than knowing which edit looked nicest.

The mechanics stay constant: vertical framing, subtitles burned in, the product visible early, one clear offer or next step at the end, and no more than one idea per video. Everything else is variation.

When we produce a package, we deliberately spread it across formats rather than shooting five versions of the same idea. That's how you find an angle you wouldn't have guessed — and those are usually the ones that outperform.

Frequently asked questions

What is the most effective UGC format?+

Problem-solution is the most reliable across categories: name the frustration in the first two seconds, then show the product resolving it. Unboxings and honest reviews follow close behind.

How long should a UGC video be?+

Most winning paid-social UGC lands between 15 and 30 seconds. Longer works when the content is genuinely engaging, but the hook still has to land inside three seconds.

How many UGC variations should I test?+

Three to five hook variations per concept is a sensible starting point. That's usually enough to see which angle resonates before you commit budget.

Can I reuse UGC across channels?+

Yes. One vertical, subtitled video can run as a Meta ad, a TikTok ad, a Reel, a Short and a product-page video.
